Description

Red enamel soup tureen

Red enamel soup tureen is part of the danish cultural history. In Denmark it was the company Glud and Marstrand, who was big on making enamel kitchenware for ordinary people. In Denmark  the enamel period was from around 1895 up to around 1966 and during world war two it was very hard to get the ingredients for enamel. Their biggest success was “Madam Blå” or “Madame Blue” which was a series of kitchenware made in blue enamel. Enamel is a thin glass like material, with or without color. It is used for decorating, strengthen or protecting the surface of for instance metal kitchenware.
